CGSC Committees
Compost Maintenance Committee- Anne Duffy-Chair
Oversees bin maintenance with watering and transferring of green/brown matter. Manages bin maintenance on workdays. Provides education to gardeners on composting process. Compost Committee works their own hours outside of workdays as well and reports the Chair.
Education Committee- Gary & Kristi Schertz- Chairs
Organizes educational field trips and workshops for the community. Teaches and encourages community residents to learn about the importance of organic gardening and healthy eating. Education works their hours on the weekends with some weekdays outside Workdays and reports to the Co-Chairs.
Greenhouse Committee - Kam Bhogal and Cindy Davis-Chairs
Coordinates the use of the greenhouse, performs required maintenance and purchases supplies for the greenhouse. Greenhouse committee members work their hours during the workdays as wells as scheduled planting days and reports to the chair.
Landscape Committee- Andrea & Nico Kkolis-Chairs
Oversees maintenance of common area plantings including but not limited to watering, pruning, amending, feeding and harvesting. Coordination of workday tasks.
Outreach Committee- Kim Harris-Chair
Works with gardeners and volunteers to create and manage outreach plot with the Gardening Club of Santa Clarita. Coordinates delivery of donations to charitable organizations.
Security/Maintenance Committee- Mike Faragher-Chair
Receives all maintenance/security concerns including but not limited to irrigation and fencing. Manages construction/maintenance workdays. Works to resolve various maintenance and security issues. Replaces locks as necessary and notifies garden council president of combination change.
Special Events Committee- Sandy Stevens-Chair
Plans and organizes special events including but not limited to Arbor Day, Memorial Garden Tour, Fall Festival, garden classes and community special events. Contacts The Signal newspaper regarding announcements and articles. Creates public awareness through participation in events, signage, distribution of fliers, etc.
Website Committee- Sandy Stevens-Chair
Manages and develops the Community Gardens of Santa Clarita website. Posts and assures the information is accurate and up-to-date. Posts notices on the Community Gardens of Santa Clarita social media sites.
