Community Garden Committees
The Community Gardens consists of committees that manage the general gardens. These committees consist of:
Most committee chairs work 15 plus hours per year and committee members work about 12 plus hours a year. We encourage gardeners to participate on a committee. It is a great education tool, an opportunity to meet other gardeners as well as a way to earn volunteer hours for the year.

Chickens Committee
Oversees feeding, watering, cleaning coop, collecting eggs and general care of the Community Gardens hens.
Compost Committee
Oversees bin maintenance with watering and transferring of green/brown matter. Provides education to gardeners on composting process. Compost Committee works their own hours outside of workdays as well and reports their hours to the Chair.
Education Committee
Develop and hold classes which provide members with the knowledge and skill necessary to achieve the best results in their garden.
Greenhouse Committee
Coordinates the use of the greenhouse, performs required maintenance and purchases supplies. Committee members work their hours during the workdays as wells as scheduled planting days.
Landscape Committee
Oversees maintenance of common area plantings including but not limited to watering, pruning, amending, feeding and harvesting.
Outreach Committee
Works with gardeners to create and manage outreach plot which includes planting, harvesting, weeding and working in amendments. The entire 10x20 plot of vegetables as well as any excess harvest gardeners may have are donated to the Santa Clarita Food Pantry.
Security/Maintenance Committee
Receives all maintenance/security concerns including but not limited to irrigation, fencing and gopher/rat issues. Manages construction/maintenance workdays.
Special Events Committee
Plans and organizes special events for Quarterly Meetings in March, June and October.
Website Committee
Manages and develops the Community Gardens of Santa Clarita website. Posts and assures the information is accurate and up-to-date as well as posting to social media sites
Worms
Oversees worm bin feeding, ensuring they are moist, adding bedding as well as making sure they are prospering.
