About the Community Gardens of Santa Clarita

The Community Gardens of Santa Clarita is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for public benefit that is run entirely by volunteers.  Established in 2010, the Community Gardens of Santa Clarita was started through the efforts of the Garden Club of Santa Clarita with the support of the City of Santa Clarita with the mission to provide a place where an individual, through nominal contribution and volunteer participation, can employ organic gardening practices in order to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers by stewarding either a 10x10 or 10x20 plot.

Over the years, the Gardens have grown to eighty 10'x10' and 10'x20' plots.  The Gardens have also added five universal access boxes, two native butterfly gardens, two California native gardens, an orchard, an herb garden, a large composting area, a children’s garden, a garden shed, a greenhouse, an off the grid solar powered system, a free library stand, a chicken coop, our Friends of the Garden arbor benches and our pergola seating area. We have community programs, adult education classes as well as dedicated plots for the Santa Clarita Food Pantry.   We welcome volunteer groups such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as projects become available.

The Community Gardens are overseen by a volunteer Executive Council, elected each December at the organizations' Annual Meeting.  Our current Executive Council Members are:
President:  Sandy Stevens
Vice-President:  Kam Boghal
Secretary: Kathy Phillips
Treasurer: Debra Jorgensen
Plot Manager: Adriana Leinbock
